Journalist Ali Abunimah’s brutal arrest in Zurich late January sparked outrage the world over: as the news spread, activists and rights experts condemned Swiss authorities’ abuse. He was deported on January 27th on the basis of an invalid entry ban.
It is now known that federal authorities initially rejected the request for an entry ban after its legal assessment, but were pressured by Zurich cantonal authorities to revise their decision and finally issue the ban notwithstanding.

We demand an investigation into the events that led to this procedure in violation of his rights and without a valid basis in Swiss law as per our petition to Swiss authorities.
Our current focus: end the aggression on Palestine
Stop complicity and ensure accountability: we demand Swiss compliance with international law
Since October 7th 2023, the State of Israel has relentlessly and indiscriminately bombed and laid siege to Gaza, using starvation as a method of warfare against its 2,3 million citizens, blocking humanitarian aid, and exterminating its population by the hundreds of thousands. It has also accelerated its illegal invasion and annexation of Palestinian land in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, arbitrarily killing hundreds and detaining thousands of Palestinian people, while maintaining an apartheid regime of oppression within its own boundaries.
In this context, Switzerland has failed to uphold its commitment to international law and the protection of human life and rights, by economically and politically supporting Israel’s crimes, and failing to protect and assist the Palestinian people. In view of the systematic and flagrant nature of the international crimes the State of Israel is and has been committing against the Palestinian people, since 1948, their culmination in what experts deem constitutes genocide, and the consistent legal orders issued by the world Courts this past year condemning these crimes and reiterating States’ duty to prevent them, Switzerland’s current government’s policy violates international law and betrays our Constitution and our people.
